That is why I'm way behind.

So because I'm so incredible interesting I'll give you an update on My life.

A few months back I completed the Gold Coast Full marathon with only one training session. I did this for two reasons: 1) So Jack couldn't brag about being the only one to have done one and 2) to prove to everyone that training is pointless and we can do whatever we want without training. Because I am an Incredible gifted athlete I manage to finish in what I expect to be a new world record of 5 hours and 23 minutes.

My life pretty much revolves around soccer and NCIS so the last few week have been heaven because not only have their been several repeats of NCIS on but it's Finals time. My soccer team managed to make 3rd place so we we're into the second semi-final playing in an elimination match against Murwullumbah. We had beaten them only a few weeks earlier so we went in confident but we lost all confidence when their star player scored a miricle goal 5 minutes in. The game became even again with only minutes to go in normal time so we had to go to extra time. The extra time was pretty dull but with only minutes to go until a penalty shootout disaster struck.

Our defender accidenatally took out the opposition sticker in the box and gave away a penalty.

Are you nervous?

I'm nervous just writing about it and I knew the end result months ago!

Ohhhh, back with the story. They lined up the penalty and the penalty went right but our keeper went left..........but if you think closely our keepers left is their strikers right, so he saved it and we went to a penalty shootout!!!!

The opposition won the toss and shoit first. But again our keeper was to good for them and he saved it. We scored our first penalty with ease and then our keeper save it again. This continued another two times until our winger had a penalty to win the game......he scored. yay.

So off to the second semi we went.

That was an easy game so I won't even bother writing about it (we won two nill).

The next match was the Grand Final against our Arch enemies Mudgeraba at Carrara Stadium. We went into the match expecting to get smashed but due to alot of luck and skill on my part we took an early lead and managed to expand on it and eventually win 3-0.

Holidays..........

At the moment it's the September holidays and my holidays have basically consisted of playing soccer and watching Movies. So my plan is to keep updating this blog but I really doubt I'll remember to write anything. So until next time, bye-bye!

Kokoda 09

Due to my stupidity I decided t do the Kokoda challenge again and not surprisingly it was really hard. We went into the event hoping to crack 19 hours but after about 15 meters we gave up on that idea and concentrated on telling each other lame jokes and talking about movies. So we made it to the first major checkpoint in an awesome time and decided that if we wanted to survive the weekend we should walk slowly. So we walked and walked and walked and walked and walked. And finally we made it to Mudgeraba (the finish).

We ended up finishing in a reasonable time of 22 hours. Which is still 7 hours ahead of last year time. Because of even more stupidity I have decided to do it again next year.

Bye

The Cannibal Tour

About 3 months ago my dad, my brother and me decided that just for the sake of it we would try and follow in the footsteps of the great Alexander Pearce (A famous Tasmanian convict who escaped from Sarah Island and walked to Hobart, eating only the remains of his accomplices).

Because us Sinclair's are known for our bright idea's we decided to follow in the footsteps of our idol and trek through the unmarked bush of the Tasmanian wilderness. To keep the realness alive we decided that we wouldn't take a map, only a compass, because our logic was that it is impossible to get lost if you have no idea where you're going.

We had even committed to the name The Cannibal Tour, but our plan's were demolished when dad went to Tasmania to ride motorcycles and saw how thick the bush actually was. This didn't completely kill our idea because we then decided to do the South Coast Track in Tasmania.

The Long Road To The 2009 Kokoda Challenge

The Long Road To The 2009 Kokoda Challenge has just begun with a 26km walk on one of the hardest sections of the track. It began with a massive hill followed by a 15km loop through creeks and over mountains before going back over the hill we started.

But before we could begin our training the teacher in charge called a meeting for all the people who were interested. In 2008 we had 25 people interested which was a good number because it could easily be made into 3 teams, so when nearly 100 people turned up I began to panic. So off I went to sunny Cairns to spend 4 night in some randoms house. We played 8 games all up and made the top 8 in the state (out of eight). For these trials we went to Runaway Bay were they have a huge Volleyball stadium with 4 courts across, we arrives a few minutes late and were just in time to here the days instructions. We split up into our group of under 15's.

This was weird, we were standing their with some 14 year old 6 foot 5 kids. they were massive! I am 6 foot 1 and I felt like a midget!

So we started playing in our Oceanic Teams and it was scary, they were so tall that they could spike the ball straight into the ground of our side of the net. But after 4 hours of playing the coach people began to realize that behind the 3 and a half meters of muscle, they suck! They couldn't serve and they can't keep the ball up.

At 2:30 came the moment we were all waiting for.........selection time. They told us that they would be taking a squad of 11 to Cairns for 5 days. They called through the team roll and through some kind of bizarre mishap, I was in. So they measured us up and told us that they would start training next week in Pacific Pines (a 1 hour drive) Noooooooooooo! But i'll do it anyway.

yay

2 weeks down, 39 to go!

I've just finished my second week back at school am now only 39 weeks away from the beloved christmas holidays. They always say that the Sydney midnight fireworks are going to be better than ever, but that's not saying much because last years weren't that great either.

It still beats my new years celebration 2 years ago which was a short drive to the beach where we'd been told we'd have a great view of the fireworks in Surfers Paradise. So it was really disappointing to see a few flashes in the distance when the clock struck midnight.

While we were waiting for midnight it was great looking back on what was an awesome year.

It started with me joining the Kokoda challenge in early February and spending a day a week walking in the Gold Coast Hinterland up until July 20 when we set of into the bush only to emerge 29 and a half hours later and 96km down the track.

Two weeks later Mum and I competed in the Gold Coast Half Marathon (I came an impressive 4562nd). It was suprisingly easy so now my aim is to finish the full marathon next year.

But by far the highlight of 2008 for me was Perth to Paradise. This was my brother and Dad's 4500km bike ride across the country. I was part of the support crew but I also rode with them for 1000km over the 2 weeks that I was with them. They finished after 30 days under the Surfers Paradise sign.

My soccer team came 4th in our competition where we lost our semi-final 4-2. I was my teams highest goal scorer with 24 goals. We had a fairly good season but we lost it due to the amount of injuries we had.

At the start of term 4 this year my school had the Academic and Sport's awards nights.

At the academic awards I received a Distinction but I was far more successful at the sport awards evening receiving Central Coast Champions (Soccer), Bill Turner Cup Winners (Soccer), District Cross Country, District High Jump, Queensland Futsal Finalists and Gold Coast Champions (Soccer).

So all in all it was a pretty good year.

Hilarious Town Names

The most noticeable part of the trip for me were the town names. They are hilarious, if you've ever been to outback Australia you'll know what I mean. The first on the trip for me was Iron Knob which I passed it on the bus trip out to the red center and then I passed it a few days later on the long return trip. Then a few days later I passed Cockburn (apparently it's pronounced Co-burn) but this was a photo opportunity I couldn't pass up.

Their were few less significant ones like Conabarabran and Nevertire but they didn't refer to things that (in the mind of a 14 year old boy) are funny.

School Holidays

School has finally ended for another year and know it is my job to spend the next 6 weeks on the couch watching the cricket. We were driven through the center of Ceduna to an RSL on the other side of the town where we met up with the riders (Jack & Dad) and the rest of the support crew (Ange, Mum, Neil, Spud and Emily) who were all leaving the morning after except for Neil and Mum.

We had arrived just to late for mains so we decided to have a big dessert. YAY. We had converstions about things that weren't G rated so they didn't make it to the Perth to Paradise Website.

They were also pretty tired so they took us back to the scout hall where they had spread everthing everywhere.

We had made ourselves at home and we had decided that we should bypass the bed-time story and skip straight to the fun part........ sleeping. But within a minute of lying in bed trying my hardest to fall asleep their was a loud banging noise and I just looked up in time to see dad slip from one portable bed to another and come crashing down onto the floorboards. We met up with the team that night at the Ceduna Scout Hall knowing that it was the last night that 4 of them would spend on the trip.

The next morning I was ready for anything as Jack & Dad set of on a 150km ride with us following behind in the cars. The trip started with a 2 and a half hour flight from the Gold Coast to Adelaide followed by a 12 hour bus trip to Ceduna. We were ready for a long boring day so we were kitted up with dvds and ipods and of on hour adventure.

Lets Fly, (without) Jetstar!

As we boarded the plane the first thing we realized was that they had tv screens on the back of the seat in frount of us. Before we took of they told us we had 25 foxtel channels and movies. As we got settled in we began watching Kung-Fu Panda but after only 5 minutes a thing popped up on the screen which told us to continue watching the movie all we had to do was swipe our credit card and pay a $10 fee.

So their we are, 2 broke teenagers sitting their with no possible form of income let alone a credit cards. So we sat in bordem watching a free video thingey showing where the plane was live. I've never heard a question that makes less sense than that. What type of answer do they think they'll get "well, theirs Pluto and Jupiter and Uranus and........."

So, How are things?

This completely shows someone that you have no interest in them what so ever and that you would prefer to ask them something that you care nothing about, then hear their opinion.

Here's the question I was asked to do my English oral on;

What will the world be like in 2020?

We if you ask me in 2020 I might know! So be patient and find out for yourself.

And my personal favourites; the blogger questions for my profile. Take my current one for example;

You're trapped in a well with a goat and a slinky. Describe how you will escape.

So you tell them what everyone else is thinking! Here's my answer;

I'll wrap the slinky around the goats neck causing it to yell in fright which will warn the slinky that it's on to tight and we will have a massive party!

Sponges and tongues are frequently misspelled. Is it because both are thirsty?

Ha ha. And what does thirst have to do with our countries crapy litracy levels?

This isn't a Blogger one but I hate it anyway;

Does my bum look big in this?

Who cares your stuck with it now!

chow for now

Kokoda Finisher

Last week I competed in the Kokoda Challenge and through a large amount of bizarre circumstances I finished. My group consisted of a teacher from my school and 3 of my friends. We had been training for a few months with a few other people from school, without knowing how big the challenge would actually be.

After a 7 o'clock start we headed off into the Gold Coast hinterland. We decided to bypass the first major checkpoint (support vehicles can help you here) without realizing that it would be 10 hours till we would see them again.

This was the most challenging section of the walk for me as I was the only one without enough food. It was a great feeling getting to that checkpoint as it marked the end of the long sections. One of our team members were so overcome by the thrill, that, he died..........just kidding, he was just not emotionally ready (I've seen too many chick-flicks). So with one member down we headed of into the nightness where we face the biggest challenge of all.

This.................Just without the snow and the clouds and the hill=(

So with this bump in the gravel out of the way we made our way to the next checkpoint but as we were about to find out not everyone was doing it so easily! About 20 km back another group had lost their teacher so we had to wait for their stragglers. So 4 hours later we were on our way with severe craps, soreness and complete hateness towards the other teams. But this didn't faze us as we looked great.

Everyone was saying how good we were doing because we still had all five team members ( it took 15 people to get those 5 but we were happy to accept any compliment in hallucinogenic stage). The next section was the hardest for all but me, as I was hyped up on powerade. Alot of people were saying that it must have been frustrating waiting for them, so I do the normal thing and say the normal thing and say how It was a great thing what they had done for me earlier so I would happily wait for them ( but deep down inside I knew the truth, how I had been deliberately abandoning my team just to sneak in a few seconds of sleep with no consideration of the tortures the rest of my team were going through).

But all this hard work paid of at the top pf this final tough spot, it wasn't the typical story about the feeling of completing something you've spent months training for but it was something much more satisfying, something some people go their whole life without fully experiencing it! Yep, you guessed it, that home made soup.................

You will never fully understand this obsession until you walk 75km in the hinterland. But back to the walk, that last 20km is supposed to be the hardest part but their is no way! We could smell that hamburger at the finish line, so we pushed on until we finally made it.

We finished in 29 hours and 36 minutes. I knew from an earlier experience that milk wasn't good to have before a race so I ended Up having a bowl of Ice cream with topping, a large piece of chocolate coated chocolate smothered in chocolate (cake) with cream.

Feeling good about my self and remembering excess fat was good to have before a race (a kid at school told me), I started my beautie sleep as I prepared for the following days proceedings:

Hatrick Hero

Last Friday I scored my 3rd hatrick for the season and they were all in the first half. So my coach decided to stop the embarrassment I was inflicting on the other team by making me sit out for the second half.

We ended up winning the game 5-0 and I have scored the most goals in my team (13) for the season. We are currently coming 3rd on the table and we need to win the rest of our games to get in the top 2.
