Noosa Tri

Tomorrow I am heading to Noosa where I will hopefully be competing in the Noosa Triathlon. There's only one problem......I'm sick!

Yep, you heard right.

This has one main problem! We can't pull out so if I can't do it my dad will have to do it himself.

What's wrong with that you ask?

Look at his gut and you'll see why this is so unreasonable!

Kokoda 09

Due to my stupidity I decided t do the Kokoda challenge again and not surprisingly it was really hard. We went into the event hoping to crack 19 hours but after about 15 meters we gave up on that idea and concentrated on telling each other lame jokes and talking about movies. So we made it to the first major checkpoint in an awesome time and decided that if we wanted to survive the weekend we should walk slowly. So we walked and walked and walked and walked and walked. And finally we made it to Mudgeraba (the finish).

We ended up finishing in a reasonable time of 22 hours. Which is still 7 hours ahead of last year time. Because of even more stupidity I have decided to do it again next year.

Bye

Happy New Year

Welcome to 2009!

Again I've stayed up to midnight just to see a few sparks in the air on the tele. They always say that the Sydney midnight fireworks are going to be better than ever, but that's not saying much because last years weren't that great either.

It still beats my new years celebration 2 years ago which was a short drive to the beach where we'd been told we'd have a great view of the fireworks in Surfers Paradise. So it was really disappointing to see a few flashes in the distance when the clock struck midnight.

While we were waiting for midnight it was great looking back on what was an awesome year.

It started with me joining the Kokoda challenge in early February and spending a day a week walking in the Gold Coast Hinterland up until July 20 when we set of into the bush only to emerge 29 and a half hours later and 96km down the track.

Two weeks later Mum and I competed in the Gold Coast Half Marathon (I came an impressive 4562nd). It was suprisingly easy so now my aim is to finish the full marathon next year.

But by far the highlight of 2008 for me was Perth to Paradise. This was my brother and Dad's 4500km bike ride across the country. I was part of the support crew but I also rode with them for 1000km over the 2 weeks that I was with them. They finished after 30 days under the Surfers Paradise sign.

My soccer team came 4th in our competition where we lost our semi-final 4-2. I was my teams highest goal scorer with 24 goals. We had a fairly good season but we lost it due to the amount of injuries we had.

At the start of term 4 this year my school had the Academic and Sport's awards nights.

At the academic awards I received a Distinction but I was far more successful at the sport awards evening receiving Central Coast Champions (Soccer), Bill Turner Cup Winners (Soccer), District Cross Country, District High Jump, Queensland Futsal Finalists and Gold Coast Champions (Soccer).

So all in all it was a pretty good year.

Kokoda Training

Yesterday I did a training walk for the Kokoda challenge which I'm doing later this year. The walk went through 2 of the eight stages. We took around 4 hours to do the first one and 2 hours to do the second one.

The first stage:

The second stage:

And that was only the first half!

Mount Warning

Yesterday I climbed Mount Warning at 6 am =-(

It's a 8.8km walk that takes around 2 hours. Thats the 3rd time I've done it this year in training for the kOkoda (Not an A,Brandon ) challenge! And then tomorrow I'm doing a 12km walk on part of the track in training as well.

I was right!

Today we versed the 14 girls in a soccer game, they were trying to convince us that they were going to flog us but after about 3 seconds they started denying about saying any of it.

As soon as the whistle blow to start the game they booted the ball as far as they could into our half (hint:always tap the ball and pass back or play a through ball). WE quickly got the ball and dribbled up to their end and scored. This continued for the first 20 minutes.

They finally realized that it wasn't working so they decided to do the right thing and pass it back. But they obviously hadn't told the girl they were passing to because she completely missed the ball and our strikers ran onto it and scored.

I ended up scoring 2 goals (one was with the back of my heel).I'm not going to tell you what the score is but I'll tell you this: I couldn't count to it even if I had 3 hands.

They've Got Nothin

Today I was informed that my school soccer team will be playing the girls team. So here are their bad points:
  • They have lost all 5 games this year.
  • Their best player is a year younger than us and has never played soccer before.
  • Their girls (Self explanatory).
  • No one in their team knows all the rules.
Our bad points:
  • Were to good for every one else.
Our good points:
  1. We actually know the rules.
  2. We came second in the comp last year and won the year before.
  3. We have 8 people who play for club.
  4. We have played for 53 years (Combined).
  5. We have scored 192 goals more than them in the past 2 years.
  6. Were male (again, self explanatory).
  7. I'm our goaly so theirs no way they'll score.
  8. We have 2 state players and another rep. player.
  9. I'm in the team.
  10. Theirs 6 more advantages for us than them.
I think thats enough proof that we'll smash em.

SEMI PRO

Today I went to see the movie SEMI PRO staring Will Farrell at the local cinemas. The preview for it was so funny and the ads before were hilarious (note to self:watch superhero movie).

The movie brilliant, it was about a guy that sucks at Basketball that trys to get to the national basketball competition in America!

As soon as we left the cinema my brother and sister kept saying how boring it was and how it was nothing like the ad but I disagree, I believe that it was exactly like the ad but with an hour and a half of boring bits added in the middle.

Skilled Park

Last night one of dads friends called and said that they had 6 spare tickets to the Titans match at the new Skilled stadium.

So with an unusual preparation time we left for Firth park. From there we parked the car and caught the bus to the stadium. From outside the stadium there were people everywhere.

The stadium was so simple compared to Suncorp all it was was a bunch of shops underneath the stands that was covered in a giant bubble. The seats we had were perfect they were behind the goals at the north stand so we could see all the trys up our end easily.

After only 2 minutes of play the Titans had scored a try but it was disallowed because it was off side. The titans ended up winning 24-4 In a brilliant second half.

The trip home only took about half an hour and we expected up to 2 hours.

Brisbane Lions

As I might have mentioned my favorite AFL team is the Brisbane Lions. 6 years ago they won the grand final and then from then on they won every game until 2 years ago 6 off their best players retired and now we lose every game.

Last night I was watching and they were actually winning. They ended up losing 92:76, quite disappointing but I've gotten used to it.

Half Kokoda

In July this year I will be competing in the half marathon at the Gold Coast Airport Marathon. This is a 21 kilometer run (thats why they call it a HALF Marathon) that I aim to do in less than 2 and a half hours.

5 days later I'll be competing in the Gold Coasts version of the Kokoda trail which is a 96km walk in under 39 hours. This event is in a group of 4 which is me and three of my friends.

Mt Warning

Today I climbed this:

Anyway, I woke up at 5:30 this morning and drove to Mt Warning with The Dunnies, Ferriers and the Sinclairs (their the good looking people in the group) and we climbed for 1 hours before we reached this:

Ok, it wasn't that steep but it was a rock path, track, thing that was so step that it needed a chain to be able to pull yourself up. So it was really step and I did it.

Last night was the cricket end of year presentation!

I was awarded the best batter award, and this is what they gave me!

EXTRORDINARY

My school futsal team has always come second in the comp to some posh private school at the other end of the coast. Their always bragging about how they've got 8 state players.

We haven't beaten them since year 5 when they only had 9 players (it was only 4-3) and we've lost to them in 4 Grand Finals since!

But today in a Historic match we defeated them 1-0. So that brings more hope that we will one day end our Grand Final Drought!

Bugger

My futsal team lost at the Queensland futsal thingey (I think thats a word). We ended coming forth after 7 games.

In our last game I was the hero scoring a magnificent 5 goals in 6 minutes, a personal best. But this was still not good enough because if we'd scored another 4 we would have been in the finals on a for and against thingey.

End of the season

Today I played the last game of the cricket season. My team ended up needing 90 runs of 30 overs. I was out for 1 run run but my team ended up wining in the last over.

This is me (I think)!

This is me smashing it on the off side!
(I can't actually remember this game but it was probably a good shot)!

Now all thats left this season is the awards night which is where the best players from each team get a trophy and alot of people go on about how good we all are for an hour and a half!

So finally all those happy memories end, but there's always next year!

Bulls Eye

Today I was playing darts and the dart drifted through the air before colliding with the Bulls Eye with extreme force!

This was the happiest time of my life (apart from the stuff I wrote in Highlights of my life blog a couple of weeks ago).

New World Record

Today I competed in a 5km race at sanctuary cove, I believe I beat the world record but no ones praising me or saying that I'm a hero (I already know that so in a way it's good no ones saying it).

My time was an unbelievable time of 29:13 (thats minutes not hours encase you really underestimated me). The winner of the race took a pathetic time of 15:14 (minutes not days) so I was close, but in the end it just wasn't my day!

I'll put some pictures off the race on when I find them!!!!!!!!!!

Day 2

Yesterday my cricket team was bowled out for 140 runs, 109 more than the first innings. Our opening batter was so proud that he got three runs off twenty overs, I beat his total score off the third ball of my innings. I ended up getting out for 13 off 16 balls to a perfect inswinger that took out middle stump.

By the way, we lost!

Futsal

Today I was selected in the 14yr boys futsal team which will be in a competition at the start of next month in Brisbane. I was chosen in this team last year, but what we didn't know that the first team we played had 5 out of their 7 players in the state team. Luckily we scored the first goal but they still scored the next 15.

But this year we have a much better team, that actually know the rules of futsal. So we know have a much better chance of scoring more then 1 goal in the entire tournament!

I am a Superstar 2

Remember the blog" I am a superstar" well that took place on the first day of a 2 day cricket game.
I've just finished paying the second day of the game. And this is what happened!

We had them 3/4 at the end of the first day, we ended up getting them out for 76 which meant we had to bat again. As soon as we got them out we agreed that we would go out swinging and try and get a quick 50 and then get them all out and were the heroes.

When we were 8 for 12 we started to lose confidence a bit. Luckily the last 2 batters got a grand total of seven.

Then the opposition scored 70 for 9 meaning that they needed 1 run of the last ball. Knowing my team you'd know we had no chance and as I expected they got the last run and won the game.

But theres always next week!

I am a Tank

I have just began an extremely strict training course for a five kilometer running race at the end of the month. The race gives the winner a life's supply of bragging rights and eternal glory amongst the other Sinclairs. My training consists on a 1 hour run ever second morning and a 2 km bike ride twice a day.

At this rate I will finish the race at the end of the year!

I am a Superstar

Today I played a game of cricket, being the legend I am I scored 23 before an unlucky decision against me.

This heroic innigs had it's highs and lows these included a ball dropping 10cm short of the boundary for what would have been an incredible 6 and an appeal for caught behind - I didn't hit it and the umpire confirmed this.

In total my team scored 107 runs and the opposing team is 3/4 after 2 overs.

So I believe its official I am a Superstar!
