Happy New Year

Welcome to 2009!

Again I've stayed up to midnight just to see a few sparks in the air on the tele. They always say that the Sydney midnight fireworks are going to be better than ever, but that's not saying much because last years weren't that great either.

It still beats my new years celebration 2 years ago which was a short drive to the beach where we'd been told we'd have a great view of the fireworks in Surfers Paradise. So it was really disappointing to see a few flashes in the distance when the clock struck midnight.

While we were waiting for midnight it was great looking back on what was an awesome year.

It started with me joining the Kokoda challenge in early February and spending a day a week walking in the Gold Coast Hinterland up until July 20 when we set of into the bush only to emerge 29 and a half hours later and 96km down the track.

Two weeks later Mum and I competed in the Gold Coast Half Marathon (I came an impressive 4562nd). It was suprisingly easy so now my aim is to finish the full marathon next year.

But by far the highlight of 2008 for me was Perth to Paradise. This was my brother and Dad's 4500km bike ride across the country. I was part of the support crew but I also rode with them for 1000km over the 2 weeks that I was with them. They finished after 30 days under the Surfers Paradise sign.

My soccer team came 4th in our competition where we lost our semi-final 4-2. I was my teams highest goal scorer with 24 goals. We had a fairly good season but we lost it due to the amount of injuries we had.

At the start of term 4 this year my school had the Academic and Sport's awards nights.

At the academic awards I received a Distinction but I was far more successful at the sport awards evening receiving Central Coast Champions (Soccer), Bill Turner Cup Winners (Soccer), District Cross Country, District High Jump, Queensland Futsal Finalists and Gold Coast Champions (Soccer).

So all in all it was a pretty good year.

School Holidays

School has finally ended for another year and know it is my job to spend the next 6 weeks on the couch watching the cricket. This year at school has been my most eventful ever. I've done the Kokoda Challenge and several smaller competitions. But, it's still been as boring as ever!

If you want to disect a toad you've come to the right place!

If you want true information though, go to an actual website about them.

Today I was told by my biology teacher that in a week I will be dissecting a toad (dissect means to cut up and play with it's innards).

This was all good, but she hadn't finished yet ''You will have to catch your own toad and freeze it, try not to hurt it though because it's hard to look at its brain if it doesn't have a head!".

That is disgusting! Anyway, where's the fun in catching a toad, can't we hit it with a golf club or something!

EXTRORDINARY

My school futsal team has always come second in the comp to some posh private school at the other end of the coast. Their always bragging about how they've got 8 state players.

We haven't beaten them since year 5 when they only had 9 players (it was only 4-3) and we've lost to them in 4 Grand Finals since!

But today in a Historic match we defeated them 1-0. So that brings more hope that we will one day end our Grand Final Drought!
